The brains in this session consisted of experts in Oxide molecular beam epitaxy, resonant x ray scattering, neutron scattering, electronic structure and spectroscopy theory. The main aim was to set out a course for a program to prepare, characterize and understand what happens to the electronic structure at interfaces of heterostructures made of oxides involving correlated electron systems. Recent discoveries of superconductivity and magnetism at these interfaces open a potential path to completely new classes of materials with exceptional and tunable properties.
