The UBC Stewart Blusson Quantum Matter Institute http://sbqmi.ubc.ca invites applications for highly motivated postdoctoral fellows interested in a variety of research topics related to quantum materials from the perspectives of growth, characterization, computation and theoretical description. These positions are part of rapid growth of the institute enabled by several large federal grants and matching funding from the university that will support new faculty positions, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, research associates and technical staff. SBQMI and the associated Max Planck-UBC-UTokyo Centre for Quantum Materials http://www.fkf.mpg.de/mpg-ubc offer a highly collaborative research environment with strong international connections.
The SBQMI Postdoctoral Fellowships offer competitive salary support and benefits (including extended health, dental, and an employee & family assistance program) and the opportunity to work with the world-leading groups at the UBC SBQMI and their international research partners.
We have two openings for postdoctoral research fellow positions to study correlated two-dimensional materials using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) and other tools. Candidates must have obtained their doctoral degree within the last five years, or expect to complete it no later than September 2018. Candidates must have background in areas related to crystal synthesis in ultra high vacuum and low-temperature transport, and must be able to demonstrate a solid scientific background—as evidenced by publication record, letters of recommendation, and research proposal.
To apply, please provide:
Candidates: submit your application online at www.facultycareers.ubc.ca/27558
Referees: letters of recommendation can be emailed directly to kzou@nullphas.ubc.ca
